Aim

The purpose of this program is to up-date basic knowledge in the field of cell and gene therapy, to review recent advances in the medical research behind cell and gene therapy and to teach the current biomedical techniques that are important in this field. By doing so, it trains for a career in medical research.

Compared to the previous program in Medical and Pharmaceutical Research, this program has a more specific focus on the areas of cell and gene therapy, more specifically on the research needed to develop such therapies. It offers classes in these areas and is based on research carried out in the affiliated departments and their research laboratories. This program also prepares for a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences among its best graduates, for which additional information can be requested.

Basic and applied topics in cell and gene therapy are covered during state-of-the-art lectures and courses; specialized issues are treated in research seminars and discussion sessions; training in practical aspects is provided in work shops and hands-on sessions, visits are planned to research institutes.
